CLINICAL SUPERVISION
Supervision is a process in which a Board-Approved Supervisor engages in a collaborative relationship with an individual interested in obtaining a license/certification, or a graduate student engaged in practicum/internship.
Eclectic employs an Integrative Model of Supervision that encompasses more than one theory and technique. Given the large number of theories and methods that exist, a finite number of integrations may be offered that reflect the supervisee’s theoretical reference(s); and support the role of a supervisor as an advocate, coach, collaborator, teacher, and sounding board.
Typical sessions consist of one hour of face-to-face supervision per week, focusing primarily on:
-
Conceptualization and exploration of individual cases
-
Feedback on counseling techniques; and the application of theories, ethics and diagnosis
-
Review of case notes and other documentation
-
Professional development
-
Consultation in emergency, and time sensitive situations
Eclectic assist supervisee(s) in developing expertise in methods essential to the professional practice of mental health counseling in order to (a) promote the growth and development of the supervisee(s); (b) protect the welfare of the clients seen by the supervisee(s); and (c) enhance the quality of mental health care.
Prospective supervisees may not begin accruing experience/supervised hours until Registration of Supervision Application has been approved by the respective Board or institution.
